As business professionals, we need to keep in mind that we are people first, business owners second. Our customers are people too. People crave connection and community, even though some won't actively admit it.
When it comes to growing your business, one of the best thing you can do is turn your existing customers into loyal, raving fans. Did you know that your customers won't leave you because of price? They won't. They'll leave you if they don't feel valued. Plain and simple. So, how can we make them feel valued?
In a busy world there are many ways that we can keep in touch with our customers so that they feel valued. Here are a few suggestions:
People like win-win scenarios. If you want to retain your customers for longer, find ways to add value for them if they stay. Some businesses use a loyalty rewards program. Some share revenue for referrals. How about customer only discounts? Think about the things you like about some of your favorite brands. What are they doing that is different that makes you feel valued while creating a win-win scenario?
I personally believe that most people genuinely want to help. If you really want to grow your business and gain more loyal customers, try asking your current customers what they would like to see improved in your product or service. Some business owners shy away from asking questions they may not want to hear the answers to, but this is a sure-fire way to grow your company into a brand that people can get behind and rave about.
